Digital pen and paper works just like normal pen and paper but cleverly we take the captured writing and convert it to produce electronic versions of the forms, computer readable text and update a record, database or report immediately.  Data is more accurate, timely and available for knowledge based decision making. It also saves hours of scanning and rekeying of data thus freeing up more patient time. Patient interaction is not affected (as it may be with the introduction of a laptop) and neither is the working practice of the practitioner.
